delays— well.. how about some LBP?

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I had an okay one, i had to couch up about $400 bucks! So yeah, I’m going to have to say the forum won’t be up this week, I ran into some problems on Thanksgiving (backed into a sign at a company and had to pay for it) which had to go out of my spending for the month of November. But fear not I should be able to pay for it this month and include it in the other updates I had planned for the middle of December. This stuff ain’t cheap!

On another note, yesterday I picked up a copy of LittleBigPlanet and I must say–it is quite addicting! For those of you who have a love for building or creating things I think LBP is a great game. It’s also good when you’re burnt out from playing Call of Duty 4 or 5 and need something simple and kick back with a few friends. Ian (IntellX) and Jeremy (from the Ballistik Promotion Productions in Memphis) will be picking up the game sooner or later to jump on it. My username on there and PSN is (you guess it) bonh. So feel free to add me up or post yours here for other people to add also.

Oh, and as far as a review, as I told Ian I don’t want to give my opinions now because it may affect whether or not some of you go out and spend the $60 for the game. I can say that I had about an hour or so of gameplay and while it was mainly to get a feel for the controls that I wasn’t blown out of the water but I wasn’t terribly bored either. In fact it wasn’t boring at all and I’m going to be skipping my class today (don’t worry–it’s a movie day, im not being careless) just to go home and mess with it more. What I am enjoying is the community it is based off of. Feel free to check out the community at http://www.littlebigplanet.com/. I saw a few videos and I can’t wait to check out what else is inside of this game. Oh and here are some of the cool things I like about LBP.

  1. The ability to move your character, you can control your sackboy/girl’s arms with the left and right analog stick, you can even do a slap motion to slap somebody.
  2. Tilting the controller moves your sack character’s head or body (option to switch between the two)
  3. Playstation Eye compatible, so you can create stickers of yourself or whatever and slap them on people..lol.
  4. Creation tool is the extensive anyone has every made.
  5. Co-Op is the new cool.. everyone likes multiplayer now-a-days.
  6. Text or Voice chat online..
  7. Dress your character or create your own stuff for them using tools

As for things I don’t like? None so far. I’ve only completed like 2-3 stages, and only complete 1 stage at full 100% (meaning I’ve collected all the items). So if anyone has the game and wants to join me and some messing around, grab your bluetooth or mic and add me on and i’ll see you tonight. Anyways, back to work for me.

UPDATE 12/3/08:

So I got to play the game more last night, and I have to say it is pretty addicting. The first 2-3 stages you’re kinda bored because it seems all too basic. But as you progress throughout the story the challenges get harder and cooler, and trying to collect 100% of the items is tough, you really gotta find these things. I don’t know if I’m almost done but at one point I was thinking man is this all this game is about? Then then levels got really interesting and I was locked in for hours. I checked out online play, which seems pretty cool–nobody was talking in the game I Was in and there was a bit of lag (the person hosting the game is also the server.. so make sure you have a good connection if you’re going to host). OH, and another thing is that a lot of the levels have these paths that are specifically for more than one player, and you can’t collect all the items without having the additional player. The different clothes you can put on your character are pretty awesome, and you get a new set with every new story to go with everything. So far my favorite is the urban set, pretty fresh. My only, and seriously ONLY gripe is the “layers”, you have three layers that you can walk, basically the far back, the middle and the front.. and it automatically places you in the next up layer if a rock or box is in your way to make the game smooth, but sometimes when you’re trying to stay on one layer and it moves you it gets annoying. Other than that I couldn’t be happier. So, anyways.. So far so good!

LOL! How does one “back into a company sign”?

  3. bonh

The sign was never there before (they mounted it in the middle of their own parking lot). I went in and tried to turn around to get into a spot and the top of my spoiler pushed the sign, the tension causing stress on the opposite end eventually leading to it snapping into two pieces.
